Royal Northern Sinfonia
Violinist Charlotte Scott joins Royal Northern Sinfonia on a tour of beautiful churches in Carlisle, Hexham, Hartlepool and Cullercoats with a trio of treats perfect for a summer evening - Dvořák's Czech Suite, Mozart's Third Violin Concerto and Schubert's Symphony No. 5.
Dvořák’s Czech Suite starts off the evening with an uplifting suite inspired by the folk dances of his homeland. It’s grounded, melodic, and full of life.
Mozart shifts things into sharper focus. His Violin Concerto No. 3 dances between elegance and playfulness, with the solo line weaving in and out like quick conversation – sometimes sweet, sometimes sly, always full of character.
Schubert struggled with depression for most of his life and in his later years suffered from other health problems too. His music often reflected his physical and psychological pain, but the Fifth Symphony shows us Schubert with a smile on his face. It's fresh, light and delicate, full of optimism.
