Concert lasts around 2 hours including a 20 minute interval
Emotion, drama, tenderness and power - Elgar’s Cello Concerto has them all. It’s no wonder it’s become one of the most popular pieces of classical music there is, and while that popularity and use in many film and TV soundtracks has made it very familiar, there’s absolutely nothing like hearing it performed live, and being in the moment. On this programme it’s kept company by Rachmaninov’s Second Symphony – lush, tuneful and propulsive.
